How to install Iriun on Windows

Get your phone working as a webcam on Windows 10 or 11 in about a minute, from download to your first video call.

Setup time: ~3 minutes · Difficulty: Beginner

Iriun Webcam lets you use your phone's camera as a webcam on your Windows PC. You install a small desktop client on the computer and a companion app on your phone; the two connect, and your phone shows up as a normal camera in any app. Here's the full process.

Before you start: Always download Iriun from the official source so you get an unmodified installer. Avoid third-party "mirror" sites that may bundle extra software.

Step-by-step installation

  1. Download the Windows client. Get the official Iriun installer for Windows and save it somewhere you can find it, like your Downloads folder.
  2. Run the installer. Double-click the file and follow the prompts. Windows may ask permission to install a virtual camera driver — this is what lets other apps see your phone's feed, so allow it.
  3. Install the phone app. On your phone, install Iriun from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iPhone).
  4. Connect both devices. Make sure your PC and phone are on the same Wi-Fi network. Open Iriun on both — they should find each other automatically. For the most stable connection, you can also plug the phone in by USB.
  5. Pick Iriun in your app. Open Zoom, Teams, Meet or OBS, go to the camera settings, and choose "Iriun Webcam." Your phone's camera feed appears.

If your video app doesn't show Iriun

Most apps detect cameras when they launch. If Iriun isn't listed, start the desktop client first, then fully close and reopen your video app so it can pick up the new camera. See the troubleshooting guide if it still doesn't appear.

System notes

Iriun runs on Windows 10 and 11. Your phone and computer need to be on the same network for the wireless connection, or connected by cable for USB mode. Exact requirements can change between versions, so check the current release details on the download section.

Tip: Prop or mount your phone at eye level for the most natural framing, and use the rear camera — it's usually sharper than the front one.
